  2.  #21-27 Many prayers were put up to God with the peace-offerings.
  3.  In these Israel looked to God as the God of their fathers, a God
  4.  in covenant with them. There was also abundance of good
  5.  preaching. The Levites read and explained the Scriptures. Faith
  6.  cometh by hearing, and true religion preaching has abounded.
  7.  They sang psalms every day: praising God should be much of our
  8.  work in religious assemblies. Having kept the seven days of the
  9.  feast in this religious manner, they had so much comfort in it,
  10.  that they kept other seven days also. This they did with
  11.  gladness. Holy duties should be done with holy gladness. And
  12.  when sinners humble themselves before the Lord, they may expect
  13.  gladness in his ordinances. Those who taste this happiness will
  14.  not soon grow weary of it, but will be glad to prolong their
  15.  enjoyment.

  17.  * Hezekiah destroys idolatry.
  18.  
  19.  - After the passover, the people of Israel applied with vigour
  20.  to destroy the monuments of idolatry. Public ordinances should
  21.  stir us up to cleanse our hearts, our houses, and shops, from
  22.  the filth of sin, and the idolatry of covetousness, and to
  23.  excite others to do the same. The after-improvement of solemn
  24.  ordinances, is of the greatest importance to personal, family,
  25.  and public religion. When they had tasted the sweetness of God's
  26.  ordinance in the late passover, they were free in maintaining
  27.  the temple service. Those who enjoy the benefit of a settled
  28.  ministry, will not grudge the expense of it. In all that
  29.  Hezekiah attempted in God's service, he was earnest and single
  30.  in his aim and dependence, and was prospered accordingly.
  31.  Whether we have few or many talents intrusted to us, may we thus
  32.  seek to improve them, and encourage others to do the same. What
  33.  is undertaken with a sincere regard to the glory of God, will
  34.  succeed to our own honour and comfort at last.

  39.  #1-23 Those who trust God with their safety, must use proper
  40.  means, else they tempt him. God will provide, but so must we
  41.  also. Hezekiah gathered his people together, and spake
  42.  comfortably to them. A believing confidence in God, will raise
  43.  us above the prevailing fear of man. Let the good subjects and
  44.  soldiers of Jesus Christ, rest upon his word, and boldly say,
  45.  Since God is for us, who can be against us? By the favour of
  46.  God, enemies are lost, and friends gained.
